The Bowen Wedding

Sunset View Resort, Big Lake, Alaska

April & Ryan Bowen

This wedding made me swoon! April and Ryan are both so stunningly beautiful. I mean, not just a little beautiful. Out of ten, they are an easy eleven. And their day wedding was gorgeous to match! But the best thing about these two is that they are genuinely sweet, caring, and funny! April spends her days in the trenches as an EMT, saving lives, and Ryan is a lineman.

Sunset View Bed and Breakfast always has such pretty flowers!
I loved her flowers! Not only were they beautiful… they were also really light! She got these from Michaels!
Simple and tasteful!
Whimsey and Beau did Aprils hair,  Caitlin Benzing and her friend Rey did makeup and Jen Yates and Nancy Sontag did the bridesmaids hair! Fabulous job, ladies!
Ryan is so very handsome!
April’s Justin Alexander gown is incredible! She got it at I Do Bridal in Seattle WA
April is the handyman behind this arbor! It was so unique and beautiful!
Oh I love this one.
Ryan loves all things boat related (an you’ll see why a bit further down the blog) so the boat lift was the perfect place for their first look. Ryan came around the corner and both of their faces just glowed!
You know it’s love when the sight of her makes him cry!
She’s their big sister! Get ’em girl!
What a setting!
Oh I love those boutonnieres! Each one was handmade by the bride!
His smile was very steady… until he saw her. His eyes had that glistening look.
April’s son came up to join her dad to give away the bride.
And everyone cheered!
Immediately after Ceremony Ryan loaded the entire wedding party into his awesome boat that was docked nearby!
As a sendoff, he gunned the motor, kicking spray up into the air!
We road the party boat across the lake.
The other people on the lake cheered congratulations to the happy couple!
We went across the lake to a local hangout… The Islander! It is most commonly accessed by boat or airplane in the summer and in the winter when the lake is frozen, cars and snow machines .
They started the party with a quick spin around the dance floor!
And then ordered shots!
It was a good time!
On the way back to the wedding, we got the perfect rooster spray shot
At the reception, Aprils decorations were so lovely! A great mixture of natural, elegance and rustic!
For the grand entrance, all the couples came in dancing!
When April came in, she pretended to be a hunter with her finger rifle… and Ryan was the deer! She got him!
The food (by Texas Roadhouse Catering) was delicious and the friends were fun!
Ryan sang along to “Good Morning Beautiful” by Steve Wholly as he swept her into his arms for their first dance.
And when the song “Daddy Dance with me” by Krystal Keith came on, April’s dad held her as she cried.
And everyone else cried too. It was a very special moment.
When Ryan ushered his mom onto the floor, they danced to “Call Your Mama” by Seth Ennis
And that is when April’s sweet heart of a son lost it.
Ryan’s parents had been married longer than anyone else there! They got to have a special dance. It was very sweet!
And then everyone else joined in.
The dance party was only just starting!
What a cute guest book!

With lots of different flavors, signified by different colors of icing and antlers! All I remember was the one flavor I cared about… peanut butter.
When the toasts rang out, everyone cheered and laughed!
He got the garter!
And Aprils son caught it!
April’s sister and her hubby had a quiet moment for a dance…
And then the party kicked off in full swing! I think it went on far into the night.

Congratulations to April and Ryan! Thank you so much for including Wayne and me in your gorgeous day! It was a blast!
