Amy {Mrs Alaska Competition}

Sometimes heros wear pink dresses and heels.

In the years that I have known Amy, she has always impressed me.

Amy is passionate. But she isn’t only passionate… she turns off comfortable and actually gets off her backside and DOES something to make the world a better place. She is passionate about protecting Alaska’s unborn and unwanted? She doesn’t go on an internet tirade to attack those she disagrees with… she adopts and loves. She wants to end exploitation and trafficking of the worlds youth? She finds a way to educate and rescue and get her voice out there.

Amy’s latest way to impact the world doesn’t look like what we would expect. There is no cape and letter on her chest. Those things are engraved in her very being. In the meantime, she is using something less conventional to get her voice and message heard across the world. She is running for Mrs. Alaska in the very next pageant.

You have to understand, Amy doesn’t consider herself a beauty queen, even though she is extremely gorgeous and poised. She isn’t excited about walking in 5 inch heels on a stage or being judged for her beauty. In fact, that is the part she is a bit uncomfortable with. The one thing she is VERY excited about is the possibility that a win would give her the opportunity to speak to new audiences across the state. To DO something, not just dream about it.

I gotta hand it to her. I’m over here so focused on raising my family, running my business and watching Netflix that sometimes I forget that I could use my every opportunity, asset and skill to do my bit and make the world a little more like I wish it was. Amy is doing the thing. And it makes my heart proud.
